Musk promised a historically accurate AI Odyssey. Grok disagrees.

Elon Musk said Grok Imagine would make a full-length Odyssey "historically accurate and true to the art of Homer." Then WIRED asked Grok.

In July, Elon Musk promised that Grok Imagine would make a full-length Odyssey "that is historically accurate and true to the art of Homer." What arrived was the Grok Odyssey: seven minutes, episode one. Then WIRED asked Grok to check the accuracy.

Grok said the episode "is an adaptation of Homer's Odyssey, not a historically accurate reconstruction of real events." Then it kept going: "The Odyssey itself is not a historical document."

Musk's deadline is still the end of the year, so there is time to fix the accuracy. Meanwhile Grok has already noted that the poem's cyclops, sirens and sea monsters are not real.
