Anthropic filed to take the end of the world public
The S-1 pairs a 94-page risk section, existential risk to humanity included, with a share sale that could be the biggest IPO ever.
Anthropic, the AI company, filed an S-1 with the SEC on Monday, Oct 26, to sell shares publicly for the first time. Per reports, the IPO could raise up to $100 billion at a $1.5 to $2 trillion valuation, beating SpaceX's record $86 billion IPO in June.
The Anthropic IPO filing devotes 94 pages to risk factors. One says advanced AI, if not built and run with appropriate safeguards, could pose "catastrophic or existential risks to humanity". Another says no single insurer, and maybe not the whole industry, could insure a catastrophic AI incident.
The filing says Anthropic delayed training a new top-end model for over a month to guard against model theft.
